To find discover who we are is crucial, but finding our origins is more important. From the bible to the Qur’an, it seems that there is always an ongoing battle to which one to believe. There are many theories about the origins of the world and how everything came to fall into place. But the one question that we are trying to figure out, is that why do people make creation stories? Suppose the bible the has revolved around the fact that God created the heavens and earth when he was there. Whereas the Qur’an mentions how the heaven and earth were of one thing. That being said, the Bible and the Qur’an has been the topic for certain narratives that have brought themes into making people believe the creation stories from both. The main reason behind in believing creation stories is because of the themes developed after creation in the Bible.
Origin stories are presented as forms of myths that don’t seem believable at first. In addition to, themes are the key component to developing the lessons. For the bible and in Christianity, the story of Genesis illustrates the creation of world as God’s plan. The universe is made in accordance to his plan, and God creates Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve live peacefully in the Garden of Eden that is given by God. Then God says to Adam and Eve that they are allowed to eat from any of the trees in the garden, except from the tree known as knowledge of good and evil. “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the LORD God commanded the man, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die (Genesis 2:15-17).” The story goes on to show how Eve is tricked by a serpent who convinces her to eat the fruit so that she will become God making Adam to do the same. This story symbolizes the fact that Adam and Eve broke their covenant with God. This also happens in other biblical narratives as well. And so on, after the fall of Adam and Eve, the bible explains how the world falls into sin and evil.
Furthermore, there are themes in the Bible that are emphasized and traced throughout the bible. There are stories that take place after creation and the fall of man that show this. One of them being Noah building the ark. Generations passed after Adam and Eve, and the world at that time was filled with evil and engulfed with sin. People were not obeying God and people were becoming more evil day by day. Then God decided to destroy a rebelling society and wanted rebuild it. Although there was one man who stood among the evil present, that man was Noah. “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God (Genesis 6:9, NIV).” God instructed Noah to build the ark because he very righteous in God’s eyes. Eventually, Noah and his family were saved by the flood due to the ark. Some of the traits we can learn from Noah is faith because it is shown in the story that Noah believed that God would decimate the world despite the rebuking that he received from the sinful people. This story is an example of God’s promise to rebuild what been destroyed.
The story of Adam and Eve laid the foundation for other narratives in the Bible. It also laid the foundation for historical figures and importantly the kingdom of Israel later in Bible of the Old testament. It also shows how the Christian culture was structured around the story of Adam and Eve which were similar to other stories in the bible. This story is also centered around the Christian faith because it was important to them and their identity as Christian people. Not only did the idea of creation in the Bible help to bring up narratives and historical moments, but it helps to understand the human mindset before everything fell into place.
As seen in both stories here, it has shown that the Bible clearly shows the redemption that creator had done in the end. With these stories still put out, there are some lessons and themes that were l be learned throughout the Bible. In the Adam and Eve story it shows that God wanted have prosperity and longevity from creation. But in the end, both Adam and Eve sinned against God. This led to the downfall of Man and set the tone for sin for the rest of the world. That sin eventually carried on and never went away. When the earth began to multiply and grow into population, wickedness began to spread across the world. Then God chose Noah to build an Ark for him and his family because he was found righteous in Gods eyes. God was going to decimate the world with the flood because he had seen what the world was becoming of sin. After the flood, God makes a covenant to Noah and to the rest of the world that he would never to destroy life again. Overall, people believe creation stories in the Bible because of the lessons of the themes that are carried within the context of the bible.
