The design of confidentiality is to protect personal information

The design of confidentiality is to protect personal information. When following rules of confidentiality it critical that the information is safe and locked away and only available to higher members of colleagues. As a teaching assistant the only information that we should have knowledge off is medicals records, SEN or previous school records. Further information should be dealt with either by head teacher or your manager, theses records should never be discussed between anyone without consent of pupil/guardian (Data Protection Act 1998). When dealing with an emergency inside of school is it essential that all records are up to date. This is to be able to contact parents/guardians if needed. It is required that all the schools/teachers are familiar with the current situation of the child/pupil especially medical records. This will save miss communication when dealing with a child/pupil with a pacific need.
